Joshua Tomiyama is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Biostatistics at the University of Iowa.Raised in Kapaau, Hawaii, his academic journey first began at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he earned his B.S. in mathematics. From there he continued on to the University of Iowa to earn his M.S. in biostatistics.
In 2017 he received the Kern-Clark Award for the most outstanding undergraduate in mathematics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His research includes Bayesian infectious disease models and data analytics that promote undergraduate student success.
